Trunk Register String fail

@Auroraj wrote:

Hi,

My Name is Raj and I am working a for a school as sysad and we are trying to use FreePBX IP phone setup using BSNL Trunk provider. Which is called LFMT line from BSNL working through DSL line.

Basically, Broadband line connected to our Microtic router with bridge mode setup and then FreePBX installed in a virtual box running on the Debian machine connected through a local network and all our IP Phone connected through our router using a local IP with internal extension which is working fine.

But I am not able to receive or call outside number either a landline or a mobile and I have checked the trunk setup seems to be fine but the register string we need to add username and password with line provider details where i enter those details and apply the configuration which is registering.

So since I am a new learner and I need help to short out this problem if one of you could help that would be really great for me and i am also new to Linux and still learning so kindly help me if anyone has on an idea to solve this issue.

SipStation trunks+concurrent call bursting

I made a blog post about my ticket I opened in regards to understanding how Concurrency Bursting works when a busy trunk becomes free. Hope it helps someone else who is curious or has a client ask them. Overall though, SipStation has been great for our company and our clients, and I can understand the dilemma.

How to have a backup Inbound SIP, possible?

I know how to add multiple sips for inbound and outbound.

If 1 SIP holds our phone# and is provisioned on their end for that number.

If they go down how, if possible to have a secondary SIP provider so if somebody calls that same number we will still get calls.

Outbound is easy since we can call from any name so a backup sip is simple there.

SIPStation and failover IP

While doing some testing this weekend on checking if our new router would successfully fail over to our secondary ISP, apparently caused a nightmare with SIPStation. Tech support said the saw the PBX reporting my main ISP IP address but it was actually coming from my secondary ISP IP. My question is what can be done so that SIPStation will work on either IP or is this not possible?

SMS Failed "Invalid DID"

@brandonsmith_rm wrote:

Trying to test SMS messageing. I have signed up, installed and test sipstation trunk, and a single DID. I can make calls no problem. I have verified that SMS is enable on the DID on the sip station account setup. I have checked user managment (allowing user to send sms). I have added it to the UCP. I can type a phone number in and press send, then It comes back with “Invalid DID”. I dont see anything in the asterisk log, so I am at a loss of where to go.

I have also tired sending though Zulu. There is shows the message in the send history, but then deletes it. No track of the message in the history. I have also checked the mysql tables for any history of the message, but that is blank as well.

Some inbound callers receive "number not in service" message

Hello all,

Some inbound callers are getting a “number not in service” message. This only seems to happen to certain people/numbers. It works fine for most other callers.

Outbound works 100%

FreeBPX ver. 13.0

SipStation trunk, 1 DID number

I would post log files but there is no evidence of an incoming call (or anything else) when this occurs.

I assume this means the call never even made it to my PBX.

Any ideas?

Change inbound/outbound

I have been asked by our trunk provider to change our sip binding to one of their other servers in order for them to troubleshoot an call quailty issue. I am just wondering what are the implications of changing this during up hours. IE: Do I just need to change the fromdomain, and host settings on both inbound and outbound? If I make the change will a reboot on the server be required or I make the change, apply and click submit all should be good.

I ask because I have never had to do this and do not want to have to reboot server in the middle of the day.

Running Asterisk Free pbx 13.

SIPStation Premium Free Beta Testing

@fdickey wrote:

Today we are happy to announce BETA testing for our SIPStation Premium SIP Trunks with FreePBX and PBXact systems for existing customers of SIPStation in the US markets.

SIPStation Premium SIP Trunks enable customers to encrypt their communications over the internet, between their IP-PBX location and Sangoma’s data center by using Secure Real-Time Protocol (SRTP) to encrypt the media and Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt the SIP signalling.

TLS and SRTP use the Advanced Encryption System (AES) which is a widely adopted standard for encryption of data for VPN, browsing (HTTPS) and communications, amongst other things. This allows businesses with strict information security practices to benefit from both SIP trunks and hosted communications.

If you are interested in testing this feature for free, please let us know by completing this short survey. Prior to BETA testing, you need to have in place a valid SIPStation SIP Trunk paid subscription.

Dear Friends,

I have freepbx distro in serevral places and soon I will have to implement HA with Sangoma devices and I will have a sip trunk in few places. Telecom offers sip trunk with surrogate option but I have no idea on how to use it so far. I have never used that before. Telecom gave me IP address to set for surrogate agents as well. Can someone explain me what are surrogate channels or agents and how to configure it?

Best Regards.

SIP calls and the ITSP not explained

@dperson2 wrote:

Hey guys,

I have been using Freepbx and Sipstation for some time, and up until now, I have just assumed how the SIP technology worked. I was watching a video that explained how SIP Trunking works, and it said that inbound and outbound calls always go through the ITSP/SIP Trunk.

I had always thought the SIP trunk, or ITSP, just acted as a DNS-like provider, that would connect our PBX system to other SIP-based PBX systems(directly), except when the caller is using a landline. At which point the call would have to go through the ITSP (SIPSTATION or affiliates).

I assumed this because when I make and receive calls, and view “SIP DEBUG ON” from the console, it always shows random IP’s that it’s connecting to. But, if the calls always go through our ITSP, then shouldn’t it just show the IP of my ITSP?

In fact, on almost every call I make and receive, it shows a caller with an IP, even when calling cell phones etc. The only thing I can think of is, maybe the ITSP has many locations/IP’s, and it connects to the closest location of the other party.

Can someone explain? And if some calls don’t go through the ITSP, do you still get charged minutes for this?

Hello everyone.
Suddenly our VOIP phones stopped working a few months ago and since then I am trying to bring them back online. I even brought another technician and he couldn’t do anything because he didn’t know about FreePBX.
The issue I am having is that phones lost their SIP registration.
We are using Grandstream 1620 phones. I rebooted them, I updated the firmware but I still get the Network Down message on the phone screen.
Our PBX is running on Elastix 4.0

I would really appreciate your help!

Hello,

In Freepbx, I have a Trunk that appears offline. I looked into sip.conf and all imaginable .conf files, but I cannot find this entry. All is working well and so on, but I cannot stop looking at the chart and see that ghost trunk.

Any suggestion on where I should investigate to remove that stupid little line ?

Thanks!

Securing UCP

We are using Sipstation for texting. A few users access the UCP for texting from their mobile phone.

I need to open a port for them to access the UCP. However, I feel uncomfortable about that. I believe that this is the same access for the admin interface, but I do not want to make this open!

Using VPN from their mobile phone is not an option.

Is there anyway to make this a bit more secure?

We are testing the MMS functionality on our SipStation trunks but we are having a hard time sending pictures (Multimedia Message). No problem receiving MMS, just can’t send.

We can send and receive text just find.

I thought I would check the logs (asterisk -r / core set verbose 100) but all I get is “Remote UNIX connection” and “Remote UNIX connection disconnected”

All me tests were done from UCP’s SMS module so far.

Has anyone been able to send pictures using this setup?
